BYD has launched the Atto 3 electric SUV at Rs 33.99 lakh. First showcased in India on October 11, the Atto 3 comes available in a fully-loaded single variant. Bookings for the Atto 3 are open for an amount of Rs 50,000 and BYD says that since its unveiling it has received more than 1500 bookings so far.
The BYD Atto 3 gets a pair of sleek headlights upfront with LED DRLs which are connected by a full-width light bar. There's also a blanked-out silver grille and an aggressive front bumper which looks like it takes its design inspiration from a certain Italian super SUV. On the sides, the Atto 3 gets blackened-out wheel arches and it rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. And just like the front there's also a full-width LED light bar at the rear. Then there's also a roof-mounted spoiler and massive 'Build Your Dreams' lettering.
BYD is offering the Atto 3 in four colours: Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White and Surf Blue.
The BYD Atto 3's interior is definitely going to be one of its USPs. It gets a very unique interior design with elements like door-mounted circular speakers on top of which also sits the door handle, air-con vents with vertical slats and a yacht inspired gear selector.
Taking centre stage in its interior is a 12.8-inch touchscreen which rotates on demand and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Atto 3 gets faux leather seats, an eight-speaker sound system, a wireless phone charger, a massive panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, electric front seats and also a 5-inch digital instrument cluster.
In terms of safety kit, the Atto 3 gets ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill-descent control and seven airbags as standard.
The BYD Atto 3 is propelled by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor on the front axle which 198bhp and 310Nm of torque. This motor draws power from a 60.48kWh battery which offers an ARAI-tested range of 521km.
The Atto 3 gets 80kW DC fast charging capability (0 to 80 per cent in 50 minutes) and comes with a 7kW home charger (full charge in 10 hours) and a 3kW portable charging box as standard. BYD claims that the Atto 3 can do the 0 to 100kmph run in 7.3 seconds.
The Atto 3 also gets a 'Vehicle to Load' function with a power output of 3.3kW, which allows the battery pack to be used as a power source to power external electrical appliances.
At Rs 33.99 lakh ex-showroom, India, the BYD Atto 3 is the most expensive car in its segment. In fact it is almost seven lakh more than its rivals, the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona which are priced at Rs 26.6 and 24.03 lakh respectively. But the Atto 3 gets a distinctive quirky interior, more features and most importantly a 70km higher claimed range as well.
BYD is offering the Atto 3 with a. 8-year / 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty for the traction battery, 8-year / 1.5 lakhs kilometer warranty for the motor and the motor controller and finally a 6-year / 1.5 lakhs kilometer warranty for the vehicle and its other components.
Bookings for the BYD Atto 3 are open for an amount of Rs 50,000 and deliveries will commence in January 2023.
