Both motorcycles feature the new 1254cc boxer engine that we are already familiar with on the R1250 GS already on sale here. Big updates to these bikes include the bigger engine, variable valve timing and an updated electronics suite. The naked R 1250 R competes with the likes of the Ducati Monster 1200.

The new engine gets more power and BMW’s ‘ShiftCam’ technology that enables variation of the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side. The updates also include an optimised oil supply, twin-jet injection valves and a new exhaust system.
