The 530i Sport is the new entry level variant in the 5 Series lineup and comes with a sticker of Rs 55.40 lakh. It undercuts the 520d Luxury Line by Rs 3.90 lakh. The 5 Series range now spans from 55.40 lakh for this 530i Sport, all the way to Rs 66.80 lakh for the top-end 530d M Sport.
The 530i Sport gets the same BS6 compliant turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the top-end 530i M Sport variant, mated to the 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. The engine produces a healthy 252hp and 350Nm of torque, translating to a brisk 6.1 seconds to reach 100kmph.
BMW has kept the 530i fairly well equipped, it gets the BMW Display Key, gesture control, parking assistant, rear view camera, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Apple Carplay, but no Android Auto, and a 205 watt sound system, to name a few. On the other hand, the 530i Sport does not get wireless charging, 360-degree cameras or the higher-spec Harman Kardon sound system.
The 530i Sport locks horns with the entry level variants of rivals like the Audi A6 which starts at Rs 54.42 lakh. It also competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that starts at a considerably higher price of Rs 59.08 lakh. The Jaguar XF starts at Rs 54.37 lakh, a shade lesser than the 530i Sport.
