Just 24 lucky people will get a chance to own the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow edition! The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow Edition has been launched at Rs 43.50 lakh, commanding a premium of Rs 4 lakh over the standard car. The 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow Edition receives the same powertrain as the standard variant, but there are cosmetic tweaks and M Performance parts to set it apart.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe gets darkened exterior elements, parts from the M Performance catalogue and the BMW Individual high-gloss shadow line package, along with two new paint schemes — Alpine White and Black Sapphire. Parts from the M Performance catalogue include a black mesh high-gloss M grille, black ORVM caps, M Performance rear spoiler, 18-inch M Performance Y-Spoke 554 M forged alloy wheels finished in Jet Black Matt, a black chrome finished tailpipe, and the self-centering BMW hub cap.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow edition is available in just a petrol variant this time around — the 2-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder 220i which produces nearly 189bhp at 4000rpm, and 280Nm of torque at 1350 to 4600rpm. The 220i finishes a 0-100kmph run in 7.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240kmph, and is paired to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission.
Speaking of the interiors, the Black Shadow remains unchanged from the standard variant — it receives two 10.25-inch touchscreens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, and is also equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Plus and the BMW Operating System 7.0. Additionally, it gets a virtual assistant, head-up display, gesture controls, parking assist, reverse assist, launch control, driver stability control, the M Sport steering wheel, sport seats for the driver and front passenger, the atmospheric Lights package, and the Illuminated Brooklyn interior trim.
Until this year, the 2 Series didn’t have a direct rival, but now it has the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine breathing down on its neck. With a price tag of Rs 43.50 lakh, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow is also encroaching into the Audi A4 territory, since the A3 hasn’t been on sale for quite some time but Audi is expected to introduce the second-generation A3 here soon enough.
