Benelli has opened up pre-bookings of the Imperiale 400 which will join a line of new Benellis launched in India this year including the Leoncino 500 as well as the TRK 502 and TRK502X. Bookings are open now for a minimum amount of Rs 4000, across all Benelli showrooms and on their website. Deliveries will start from Diwali.

The Details

The Benelli Imperiale 400 is a reinterpretation of the brand’s Moto-bi range of bikes from the 1950’s. It is powered by a 373cc air-cooled, single cylinder engine that sits in a double cradle frame making 20bhp and 28Nm of torque with a 5-speed gearbox. The bike weighs around 200kg though, and that might play out with its performance but then again, laptimes aren't the Imperiale’s agenda. The bike has a 41mm traditional telescopic fork up front with 110 mm of travel and twin shocks at the rear with 65 mm of travel. There is also a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc coupled with dual-channel ABS to bring you to a halt. The bike rides on spoked aluminium rims measuring in at 19" on the front and 18" on the back, shod on 110/90 and 130/80 tyres respectively. It also gets a retro looking dual-pod instrument cluster and a split seat. The bike has a similar look to other retro bikes in our market with chrome details, a round headlamp and tank design and a peashooter exhaust.

Competition

The Imperiale 400 will compete in the very popular retro-classic bike segment in India that is dominated by Royal Enfield. The Imperiale will compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 which is priced around Rs 2 lakhs as well as the Jawa and Jawa 42 that are priced around Rs 1.6 lakhs.
