Audi A8 L facelift launching on July 12

Audi India is now all set to launch the facelifted A8 L in India, after having unveiled it globally late last year. The facelifted Audi A8 L receives design tweaks to make it look fresher and sharper, while the interiors have been given extensive upgrades as well. Bookings for the A8 L are open for Rs 10 lakh.

We have already talked extensively about the design of the facelifted Audi A8 L, but let’s still go over it briefly. The A8 L facelift now gets the familiar single frame grille which receives plenty of chrome. The headlamps receive a new pattern for the DRLs, and at the rear you get OLED tail-lamps.

Audi globally offers the A8 L with a set of petrol and diesel powertrains — the turbo-petrols include a 3-litre V6 and a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, while the diesel is a sole 3-litre turbo-diesel unit. The Ingolstadt-based car maker also offers the A8 L in a plug-in hybrid guise as well. However, we expect the India-spec A8 L to retain the 3-litre V6 turbo-petrol which puts out 335bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Based on the teasers, the interiors of the Audi A8 L have also received extensive upgrades. The international-spec A8 L gives you an option to choose from either Valcona leather or Cognac brown leather upholstery. The current A8 L receives equipment such as a head-up display, Audi Virtual Cockpit, four-zone climate control, Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, two 10.1-inch HD screens at the rear along with a haptic touchscreen system, park assist, night vision, 360-degree camera, adaptive air suspension and more.

Prices for the A8 L facelift will be announced at its launch on July 12. The current A8 L is priced at Rs 1.57 crore, and we expect a price hike once it is launched. It goes up against the likes of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
