The Mahindra XUV400 has been launched in two trims – EC Pro and EL Pro. The XUV400 was not modern enough earlier to match the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, but now it gets a ton of tech and updates, making it a big step-up from the older version of this car.
The Mahindra XUV400 does not get any updates on the exterior front and is similar to the older version. The top trim gets a fog lamp, rain sensing wipers and rear defogger, along with a reverse camera with guidelines, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and electrically powered and adjustable ORVMs. The rear spoiler, follow-me home headlamps, LED tail lamps and satin copper accents are standard across both trim levels.
The Mahindra XUV400’s interior has been extensively updated to match the likes of other EVs in this segment. The first visual update in the car is a pair of two 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. It gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in addition to Mahindra’s Adrenox connected car features. TPMS, three driving modes – fun, fast and furious, L-mode (single pedal driving),rear AC vents are standard across all trims. The top trim gets a wireless charger with active cooling, FOD (foreign object detect) alert and MLOA (mobile left-over alert). The EL Pro also gets a six-speaker sound system, leatherette seats, leather steering wheel, auto dimming IRVM, steering-wheel mounted controls with cruise control, sunroof and six airbags.
The Mahindra XUV400 gets two battery options – 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh. The EC Pro is available with the smaller 34.5 kWh battery only while the EL Pro can be optioned with either one of the battery packs. The 34.5 kWh battery has a claimed range of 375km, while the 39.4 kWh has a claimed range of 456km paired to the same motor that generates 147.5bhp and 310Nm of torque. Its 0-100 kmph comes up in 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 150 kmph.
The Mahindra XUV 400 has been launched at Rs 15.49 lakh for the base variant and Rs 17.49 lakh for the trim. Its immediate rival is the Tata Nexon EV that costs Rs 19.94(ex-showroom) lakh for the top trim. The other competitors are the MG ZS EV that demands a bit more premium and costs Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom).
The older version of the Mahindra XUV400 was outdated but with these tech updates and a modernised cabin, the MY24 XUV400 stands a good chance against the Tata Nexon EV.
