KTM India has finally answered our wishes! The 2023 KTM 390 Adventure, launched with a price tag of ₹3.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), finally gets the compression, rebound and preload adjustable suspension. Oh yes, did we also mention that it gets spoked wheels as well?
KTM has been an active participant in the Dakar Rally for years. The new 390 Adventure is styled in rally-inspired graphics to commemorate the brand's dominance in the rally. A new Rally Orange colour scheme has also made its way into the 2023 model. Other than this all things remain unchanged including the split LED headlamps, the 2-step adjustable windscreen and handguards on either side. The beefy 14.5-litre fuel tank and wide seat too remain the same.
Here is where the major upgrades come in. The KTM 390 Adventure now comes with a set of WP Apex compression and rebound adjustable upside-down forks. This can support 30 clicks each of compression and rebound. The rear WP Apex monoshock suspension is now 20-click rebound adjustable as well. The 10-click preload adjustability has been carried over from the previous iteration. The steel trellis frame with a bolt-on subframe remains the same.
The 2023 model even comes with spoked rims wrapped in Metzeler Tourance tubeless dual-purpose tyres. The braking duties are handled by the Bybre brakes with 320mm front and 230 mm rear discs.
The 2023 390 Adventure is powered by the same high compression mill meaning it makes the same 42.9bhp of power and 37Nm of torque as before from the 373cc 4-stroke single-cylinder engine. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.
Offering a traction control system, ride-by-wire, two riding modes (street and offroad), offroad and cornering ABS, the new KTM 390 Adventure packs all the goodies that the older version had on offer. The 5-inch coloured TFT display too remains the same.
For the new hardware that is offered in the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure, a sum of ₹21,000 has to be shelled out to enjoy it. This new Adventure 390 is now available at ₹3.60 lahks. Also on offer is the KTM 390 Adventure X which comes with the same hardware as the previous Adventure 390 but misses on the rider aids. The 390 Adventure X is priced at ₹2.80 lakh. Another variant of the 390 Adventure with the old hardware will cost ₹3.39 lakh.
The KTM 390 Adventure, with these updates, should be a lot more capable and off-road and we can’t wait to verify that when we get our hands on it.
