Renault India was recently in the news regarding the Duster’s end of production, and now it has gone ahead with its first offering for this year in the form of the 2022 Renault Kwid, which has been launched at a starting price of Rs 4.49 lakh. The Kwid has been around since 2015, and has since then received one major facelift, and other minor tweaks here. It goes up against the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the Datsun redi-Go.
What’s new on the 2022 Renault Kwid?
Honestly, not much. The 2022 Renault Kwid remains more or less the same car as it was, but Renault has added a new RXL (O) variant to the lineup which will be available with both the 799cc as well as the manual trim of the 1-litre powertrain. The Climber Edition of the 2022 Renault Kwid has also received a new dual-tone Metal Mustard paint scheme and new flex-wheels. The rest of the car’s design hasn’t been tinkered with, retaining the familiar looks which isn’t a bad thing at all, as the Kwid is a unique-looking product.
2022 Renault Kwid Powertrain
The 2022 Renault Kwid continues to receive two powertrains on offer — a 799cc mill producing 53.2bhp and 72Nm of torque, and a 1-litre powertrain producing 67bhp and 72Nm of torque. While the 799cc motor can only be had with a 5-speed manual transmission, the larger 1-litre powertrain also adds in an AMT.
2022 Renault Kwid Equipment
The equipment list in the 2022 Renault Kwid also remains the same as before, with it receiving features like a pollen filter, a USB fast charger, voice commands, a day/night IRVM, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a roof mic, a reverse parking camera, and electrically-adjustable ORVMs among others.
In terms of safety, the Kwid packs in dual-airbags, rear parking sensors, driver side seat belt with pre-tensioner, high-speed alert, seat belt reminder, ABS with electronic brake distribution, and more.
