Indian Motorcycle India has launched the 2022 Indian Chief lineup, with prices starting at Rs 20.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2022 Indian Chief lineup comprises of the Indian Chief Dark Horse, the Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse, and the Super Chief Limited. The updated Indian Chief lineup gets cosmetic and functional upgrades which begins with the new Thunderstroke 116 engine. The engine capacity has gone up by 79cc, from 1811cc to 1890cc. The torque output has been jacked up as well, going up to a monstrous 162Nm.
All three products in the 2022 Indian Chief lineup have a lot in common. Suspension duties on all three bikes are performed by 46mm telescopic forks up front with 132mm travel, while at the rear you get dual gas-charged monotube shocks with adjustable preload and 75mm of travel.
Even the equipment list is common across all three bikes, starting from the 4-inch Ride Command touchscreen system with turn-by-turn navigation, cruise control, three riding modes, keyless ignition, ABS, smartphone connectivity with call and SMS alerts, and music streaming via bluetooth and USB.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is your entry-ticket to the Indian Chief lineup. Standing at a kerb weight of 304kg, the Indian Chief Dark Horse is the lightest of the three bikes in the lineup. The Chief sports 19-inch Cast Black wheels at the front with 130/60/B19 tyres, while the rear gets 16-inch Cast wheels with 180/65/B16 tyres.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is available in three different variants, with the Black Smoke priced at Rs 20.75 lakh, the Stealth Grey at Rs 20.77 lakh, and the Alumina Jade Smoke at Rs 20.86 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse gets the same seat height as of the Chief Dark Horse at 662mm, which is just 3mm lower than the 665mm seat height of the Super Chief Limited. With a kerb weight of 315kg, the Bobber Dark Horse heavier than the Chief by 11kg, and 20kg lighter than the Super Chief. The Bobber Dark Horse sports 16-inch Black Wire wheels and also gets fatter tyres over the Chief, with 130/90/B16 at the front and 180/65/B16 at the rear.
The Bobber Dark Horse is being offered in three variants too; the Black Smoke will set you back by Rs 21.39 lakh, the Titanium Smoke priced at Rs 21.40 lakh, and the Sagebrush Smoke priced at Rs 21.44 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The most expensive offering in the 2022 Indian Chief lineup, the Indian Super Chief Limited is also the heaviest among the three bikes at a kerb weight of 335kg. It also shares the same wheels and gets the same tyre size as seen on the Bobber Dark Horse. The Super Chief Limited gets chrome finishes and metallic paint options in places where the Chief Dark Horse and Bobber Dark Horse receive blacked-out treatment. The Black Metallic is the most affordable variant of the Super Chief at Rs 22.82 lakh, while the Blue Slate Metallic and Maroon Metallic are both available for Rs 22.84 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The updated 2022 Indian Chief lineup goes up against the likes of the Harley-Davdison Fat Boy 114, the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic, and the BMW R18. All three bikes in the 2022 Indian Chief lineup will be available via Indian Motorcycle dealers throughout the country.
