Ducati India is not done with its series of launches just yet. After the Multistrada V4 and the XDiavel Dark, the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 has now made its way to our shores, at a price tag of Rs 13.49 lakh. The 2021 Ducati SuperSport is being offered in two trim levels — the standard SuperSport 950 and the SuperSport 950 S.
The 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 features a new fairing, which now extends further back, thus hiding more mechanical bits. The two winglets at the front will feed fresh air to the rider’s legs via the side vents, which have been repositioned. The twin-LED headlamps receive DRLs, and are inspired by the ones we’ve already seen on the Panigale V4.
The 937cc liquid-cooled Testastretta engine has undergone the BS6 treatment, and while it still produces 108bhp at 9500rpm, it loses out on 6Nm of torque over its predecessor, and now produces 93Nm at 6500rpm. The 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 also receives ride-by-wire technology with 53mm throttle bodies. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox which is linked up to a quickshifter. But we’ll get to the SuperSport 950’s equipment list later.
2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 Suspension, Frame, and Braking
The 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 is underpinned by a tubular steel trellis frame which uses the engine as a stressed member of the chassis, and is connected to the cylinder heads. It gets a single-sided swingarm and adjustable suspension on both variants, with varying degrees of adjustability and a different setup of course. The standard SuperSport 950 comes with fully-adjustable Marzocchi 43mm USD forks up front, and a Sachs progressive linkage monoshock at the rear. The SuperSport 950 S receives an Ohlins suspension setup with a fully-adjustable 48mm USD fork at the front with TiN (titanium nitride) treatment, and a fully-adjustable progressive linkage monoshock at the rear.
The braking setup on the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 comes courtesy of Brembo. Up front, you will find M4-32 Monobloc four-piston calipers mounted on two 320mm floating discs with a self-bleeding master cylinder, while the rear gets a two-piston caliper mounted on a 245mm disc.
The 2021 Ducati SuperSport features a new 4.3-inch TFT colour display which showcases necessary information and can also be linked to your smartphone via Bluetooth. There are three riding modes on offer, namely Sport, Touring, and Urban. As mentioned earlier, it also receives cornering ABS from Bosch , a quickshifter and additionally gets wheelie control and traction control which can be played around with via the buttons on the handlebar. An anti-theft system and heated palm grips complete the equipment list.
The 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 is available in two variants — the standard SuperSport 950 which is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and the SuperSport 950 S which is priced at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with rivals like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX which is priced at Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom). There's also the recently launched Aprilia Tuono 660 and the RS 660 which cost Rs 13.09 lakh and Rs 13.39 lakh respectively but do make less power.
