After a long wait and trying to sell tyres via the import route, Vredestein Tyres has finally officially made its way to the Indian market and will be locally produced. Vredestein Tyres was bought out by Apollo Tyres in 2009 and have slowly been on the rise ever since to become among the top-ranking premium and performance-oriented tyres for a range of vehicles including cars, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles and more. For India, the company has decided to bring in a range of motorcycle and car tyres, to begin with, with plans to bring in high-performance bicycle tyres and tyres for light commercial vehicles later on in the future.
For cars, Vredestein will be launching the Ultrac Vorti, a high-performance set of tyres that have been optimised for Indian conditions. The Ultrac Vorti will be available for performance and luxury cars and will be available in a range of sizes. The international markets get tyres for rim sizes ranging from 17-inch to 24-inch and tyres with widths ranging from a 225-section all that way to a massive 355-section. For India, however, it will be available in five sizes, with rim sizes ranging from 18-inch to 20-inch and widths ranging from a 235-section to a 275-section. In terms of pricing, we can expect these tyres to be on the premium side considering their high-quality construction and feature set. These tyres have been designed by Vredestein in partnership with the Italian design house — Italdesign.
Apart from introducing tyres for cars, the European company has also introduced its Centauro range of tyres for motorcycles. There are two options available, the Centauro ST and the Centauro NS, the latter being the more sporty, high-performance offering of the two while the former is designed for road use and sport touring. Both feature a zero-degree steel radial belt design and are built for higher-displacement motorcycles ideally those that fall under the 600-1200cc range. Vredestein is launching these motorcycle tyres in India first before launching them for the rest of the world. The Centauro NS and ST range of tyres have been developed in close partnership with the Italian design firm Frascoli.
Vredestein Tyres and the upper management of Apollo Tyres in India found that now was the perfect time to launch a premium tyre brand in India considering how most premium car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have posted better sales during and post lockdown than say a year or two back. It is nice to see companies take note of the fact that the Indian consumer appreciates quality products and parts to go with their prized possessions — their cars and motorcycles.
As aforementioned, Vredestein Tyres will be offering tyres in the premium segment and will go up against the likes of Michelin and Pirelli. Would you like us to compare tyres from Vredestein with their closest rivals? Let us know in the comments section.
