Volkswagen India has introduced new variants of its popular models, the Virtus and Taigun. Following the Taigun, the Virtus also includes the GT Plus Sport and GT Line variants. Additionally, the Taigun GT Line has also got upgrades to match the new Virtus GT Line. Prices start at ₹14.07 lakh for the Virtus GT Line and ₹17.85 lakh for the Virtus GT Plus Sport. The Taigun GT line starts at ₹14.67 lakh. For those looking for a more affordable option, both the Taigun and Virtus now feature a Highline Plus variant that sits between the Highline and Topline variants. Virtus Highline Plus starts at ₹13.87 lakh and Taigun Highline Plus starts at ₹14.26 lakh.
The new Virtus GT Plus Sport variant is a performance-focused offering powered by Volkswagen’s 1.5-litre TSI engine, which generates 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. This model is available with either a 7-speed DSG automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission, catering to various driver needs.
In terms of design, the Virtus GT Plus Sport stands out with its striking blacked-out elements and red GT badging on the grille, front fender, and boot. Complementing these bold accents are black alloy wheels, headlamps, ORVMs, and a gloss-black roof. The red brake callipers further emphasise its sporty character. The interior features a black theme all around with black upholstery and contrasting red accents. It also gets aluminium pedals. A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster are standard. The Virtus GT Plus Sport variant is priced from ₹17.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
For buyers seeking a more restrained option with similar sporty appeal, Volkswagen has introduced the Virtus GT Line variant. This model is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 113bhp and 178Nm of torque, available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Visually, the GT Line retains much of the sporty styling seen in the GT Plus Sport, including black accents on the grille, wheels, and ORVMs, along with the red GT badging. The interior continues the sporty theme with black upholstery, grey inserts, and aluminium pedals, complemented by ambient red lighting to enhance the cabin’s visual appeal. Additionally, the GT Line features the same 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Priced at ₹14.08 lakh (ex-showroom) it is the most affordable model in the Virtus Sport lineup.
The updated Taigun GT Line also gets a host of upgrades, making it a strong competitor in the compact SUV segment. It is powered by the same 1.0-litre TSI engine as the Virtus GT Line. One of the most noticeable additions is the inclusion of a sunroof, a feature many buyers demand in this segment. Along with rain-sensing wipers and aluminium pedals, the Taigun GT Line gets an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, paired with a 10-inch infotainment system. It is priced starting from ₹14.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
Volkswagen has also introduced a new Highline Plus variant for both the Virtus and Taigun models. Positioned between the Highline and Topline trims, the Highline Plus offers a range of premium features at a lower price point than the Topline. This variant includes an 8-inch digital cluster, a sunroof, automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push-button start. The Virtus Highline Plus is priced at ₹13.87 lakh, while the Taigun Highline Plus starts at ₹14.26 lakh (ex-showroom).
Volkswagen’s expansion of the Virtus and Taigun lineup offers a wider range of options for buyers. The introduction of models like the Virtus GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line ensures that various customer needs are addressed, from sporty driving to everyday usability.
