In a surprising unveil; Elon Musk managed to shatter the laws of physics with the second-generation Roadster. Tesla also showcased the Semi truck, but more on that later. With design cues such as a sharp and low silhouette, a targa styled roof and a 2+2 seating arrangement, the new Roadster looks no less than a modern sportscar.

Going with what Elon Musk said at the event, the new Roadster will be able to hit 100Kmph from a standstill in a mind-boggling 1.9 seconds, making it the quickest production car ever. He also said that it will have a top speed of over 400kmph. Making all this possible will be a new 200KWh battery pack, which will power three electric motors, one mounted over the front axle while the other two at each of the rear wheels. The new battery pack will also allow the new Roadster to travel over 1000km on a single full charge.

The new Roadster can be booked right now in the USA at an amount of $50,000; the base model starts at $200,000 and Tesla has forecasted the production to begin by 2020.

As mentioned earlier, Tesla also showcased an electric truck at the launch which was expected to be the highlight of the event. The Tesla Semi is an all-electric semi-truck having a range of over 800km but it can also hit 100kmph in 5 seconds flat which any other fossil fuel powered truck of the same category will take about 20 seconds normally. Making the deal even sweeter is the fact that new Semi gets Autopilot as standard and also, quick charging; which gets you a range of 640km in 30 minutes. Tesla has promised that it’ll begin the production in the year 2020.
