Tata Motors is definitely on a strong wicket at the moment, thanks to the popularity of its EVs such as the Tata Nexon, along with its SUVs such as the Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier. The demand for the Safari and Harrier shows no signs of slowing down, and Tata Motors has also used this opportunity to demonstrate a women empowerment initiative, with women personnel assembling the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs at the Tata Motors plant outside Pune in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The initiative was kicked off in 2021, and it has helped enrol, educate and train girls from economically deprived areas. As of now, the line has 1500 women personnel who work on the assembly line of the Safari and Harrier, working across three shifts. Tata states that the factory has a capacity of producing 240 units of the Harrier and Safari each day. The first SUV rolled-off this all-women assembly in February 2022.

The TCF 2 line at the Tata Motors plant where the Safari and Harrier are assembled also received certain changes such as raised workstations, redesigned tools and lifts to be ergonomically better-suited to women personnel.
