London debut for Royal Enfield’s drag motorcycle

Another example of Royal Enfield’s customisation prowess was unveiled by the manufacturer in the form of the LockStock dragster motorcycle. Royal Enfield showcased the LockStock dragster at an event organized by The Bike Shed Club in London. Built to shatter straight line performance, the highly customised dragster motorcycle has minimal bodyworks and it has a projector lights with a round LED strip around it. Even though it is based on the Royal Enfield 650cc twins, it sports a visibly longer wheelbase than the twins. The inverted aggressive U-shaped handlebars look typical to drag racing motorcycles that will give a crouching ride position. The long, narrow single seat on the bike is inclined upwards at the end to provide support.

Under the skin

As of now Royal Enfield has not released the technical details of the LockStock dragster other than a few pictures that you can see here. The engine is the same 650cc unit that does the duty in the Interceptor and Continental GT.  While the stock bikes are powered by the 650cc parallel twin fuel injected engine that makes 47bhp and 57Nm, the dragster could make a lot horses with its focus on the quarter mile records. The stock motorcycles come with a 6-speed gearbox. The dragster version also gets USDs up front to cope with the high speeds.  As you can see in the pictures, the LockStock dragster has steering dampers to reduce lateral movement and aiding in high speed runs. The twin exhaust units are sliced and housed in the bottom part of the fairing, similar to an underbody exhaust, but flanking either side of the fairing. The frame of the motorcycle is exposed and it gets a pair of wide tyres like most other drag racing motorcycles. Watch this space for more updates.
