Land Rover has officially launched the Range Rover Velar facelift in India, with a starting price of Rs 94.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This updated Velar is only available in a single HSE trim level, with customers choosing between two powertrain options.
The exterior of the 2023 Range Rover Velar has been updated. It has a new front grille that adds a modern touch to its appearance. The addition of Pixel LED headlights prevents dazzling oncoming traffic by individually controlling LEDs in the headlights and controlling the throw. The rear lights have been updated as well. To maintain balance, the design incorporates a significant overhang at the back. Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey are two new exterior colour options.
The updated Range Rover Velar has a modern and uncluttered interior design. It now includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via JLR's 11.4-inch Pivi Pro central information hub. Windsor leather trim is used throughout the cabin and is available in two elegant themes: Caraway/Ebony and Deep Garnet/Ebony. In addition, the manufacturer has added a wireless charging pad, four-zone temperature control, driver-seat memory settings, an air purifier, and an onboard Amazon Alexa assistant. The Velar also has an 11-speaker, 400-watt Meridian sound system, which provides an immersive audio experience. The driver and passengers are treated to enhanced comfort with 20-way powered front seats that include massage and heating/ventilation functions. A 360-degree camera system is installed on the vehicle to improve visibility and safety. Furthermore, it supports over-the-air software updates, ensuring that it is always up to date with the latest features and improvements. Metal pedals, active road noise cancellation technology for a quieter ride, multicoloured ambient lighting for added ambience, a fixed panoramic sunroof to bring the outdoors in, and powered rear seats for added convenience and flexibility are also notable interior additions.
There are two engine options under the hood of the 2024 Range Rover Velar. The first is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 201bhp and 430Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds. A 2.0-litre petrol engine with 296bhp and 400Nm of torque, capable of sprinting from zero to 100kmph in 7.5 seconds, is an alternative option. Both engine options are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and include the Terrain Response 2 system from the manufacturer.
In the competitive landscape, the Range Rover Velar facelift (Rs 94.30 lakh) competes with rivals such as the Porsche Macan (Rs 88.06 lakh), the Audi Q7 (Rs 82.49 lakh), the Mercedes-Benz GLE (Rs 89.87 lakh), and the BMW X5 (Rs 93.90 lakh).
