Gold Class: Porsche teases us with glimpses of its restoration project

In a series of teaser videos, Porsche has revealed its grand plans to revive a classic example from the 90’s – a 993-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. Porsche has teased us with an outline of the Project Gold car.

The first video shows restoration work being done on a classic body and the second video shows the black hollow-spoke aluminium alloys painted in gold followed with a thick black top coat.  Then, the top black coat is precisely removed in some parts by laser to reveal the golden lines on the alloy wheel. The black and gold rims look beautiful to say the least. The third video shows a designer handcrafting the black leather seat covers with golden stitching and covering the seats. In the final video, the classic body of the car is subjected to cathodic dip painting, the same treatment that is given to the current line-up of its cars. Expect high end technology making its way into the classic restoration, giving it an air of a classic-modern car.

The treatment that is being given to the car will remind you of the 911 Turbo Exclusive Series –gold coloured car with black stripes. The car makes 599 galloping horses and 750Nm from its 3.8-litre flat-six engine with forced induction with VGT. The 911 Turbo Exclusive Series was limited to 500 examples.

There are no other technical or design details revealed by the company at this moment. It is also not clear whether Porsche Classic is restoring this as a part of customer request or for its museum. Stay tuned for more updates on Porsche’s ‘Classic Project Gold’.
