Porsche North America has decided to auction off a 911 speedster, one of the last 991 generation cars to roll off the production line to raise funds to fight the Covid19/Coronavirus pandemic. The auction of this car will be held by RM Sotheby’s and the entire proceeds will be donated to the United Way Worldwide Covid19 community response and recovery fund. The 911 Speedster that is being offered for sale for this charity auction also includes a once-in-a-lifetime package for that would thrill any Porsche enthusiast.
The final winner of this charity auction will get the 911 Speedster along with a custom package filled with Porsche goodies, including a 911 Speedster heritage design chronograph watch. The bidder will also get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Porsche AG headquarters in Weissach. This tour will also include a drive around to get an experience of the test track with Dr Frank Steffens Walliser and Andreas Preuninger, both of whom head the 911 and GT development programs at Porsche.
Additionally, it will also come with a book that includes all the photographs and an original sketch by the Speedster's designers.
The 911 Speedster is a rare car in the 911 lineup, with only 1948 examples made in total from the 991 generation, and the auction is a fitting way to bid goodbye to the 991 generation of the 911. This final edition Speedster is trimmed out in the Porsche heritage designed back and finished in the GB Silver metallic colour with the accented white livery and a racing number on it.
RM Sotheby’s said it'll hold the auction on its online platform only and it is a no reserve biddings, set to stay open from April 15 to April 22. Here is the link so you can follow the entire auction action online.
