If you aren’t living under a rock, you must be aware that the Ola Electric Scooter has been in the news for quite some time. With Ola investing big bucks in their Future factory, hypercharger technology, and the acquisition of Etergo last year, its ambitions of becoming a green giant in the Indian EV industry are becoming clear. While the electric scooter remains unnamed as of now, Ola has started accepting bookings, or should we rather say you can ‘reserve’ your Ola electric scooter now.
It’s fairly simple. You can ‘reserve’ your Ola electric scooter by paying an amount of Rs 499, which means if you book or reserve the electric scooter now, you will be given priority, or rather you will be among the first few people in line to purchase the scooter when deliveries commence. Once you agree to go forward and make the final purchase, Ola will share the final delivery date with you. Should the need of cancelling your reservation arise, Ola says the booking amount is refundable and you will receive it within 7-10 working days.
This too is a fairly simple and straightforward process. All you need to do is visit the official Ola electric website, and select the ‘Reserve for Rs 499’ option on the right side of the screen. You can then login via your phone number, post which you can simply make the payment through online banking, UPI services, or Ola Money. After the payment, Ola will also send you your order ID and other details via SMS or email so that you can check your reservation details. However, you cannot choose the colour or variant of your scooter during the reservation stage, since that information will only be available much later.
Oh, but we forgot to tell you the best part; the scooter will be delivered right to your doorstep!
The features and specifications of the Ola electric scooter are still under wraps, but Ola claims the scooter will have class-leading underseat storage space and acceleration, although this will only be confirmed after Ola releases the specifications. Charging options for the Ola electric scooter include a home charger compatible with a 5-amp socket, and the Ola Hypercharger network that is in the process of being set up throughout the country. The hypercharger is said to provide the electric scooter with 50 per cent charge in just 18 minutes, giving it a range of 75 kilometres. The scooter will feature smartphone connectivity along with navigation.
Ola has currently not shared a lot of the details about its electric scooter, but it says all the information will be known very soon. What we do know is the yet-unnamed Ola electric scooter will compete against the TVS iQube, Ather 450X, and the Bajaj Chetak, and we expect the pricing to be around the Rs 1 lakh mark. For now, all we need is just a little patience!
