The Mini John Cooper Works Hatch has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs 43.50 lakh. The John Cooper Works is based on the 3-door hatchback and will hit the dealerships as a CBU unit from June 2019 onwards.

Under the hood

The Mini John Cooper Works is the performance variant of the Mini Cooper S and it is powered by a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged motor that now puts out 229bhp and 320Nm torque which catapults the hot-hatch to a ton in just 6.1 seconds. The power is sent to the front wheels via an eight speed steptronic transmission and is also equipped with paddle shifters.

Drive modes

The JCW also gets three driving modes, the standard mode focused on ride comfort. A ‘Sport’ mode which sharpens the throttle response and the steering making it more sporty and a ‘Green’ mode which alters the tune to deliver maximum fuel efficiency. Driver assistance systems include Park Distant Control and a rear view camera as standard

How does the JCW look?

The Mini JCW boasts of the John Cooper Works bumpers as well as rear spoiler and chrome plated double exhaust tailpipes. The interior comes with carbon black dinamica leather with red accents,
It also gets JCW sport seats and a sport steering which automatically adjusts steering sensitivity.
LED headlamps are standard and are also surrounded by LED daytime running lights
It gets standard safety features like front and passenger airbags, brake assist, dynamic stability control, crash sensor, anti-lock braking system, cornering brake control and run-flat tyres with loads of optional upgrades. Although, you’ll have to shell out extra cash for them. Mini John Cooper Works is available in ten different colour options and an additional JCW rebel green which is just a fancy name for British Racing Green colour for extra cost. Customers can customize the roof and mirror caps as well as colour line on the car.
