MG Motor India has launched India’s first level one autonomous SUV, the Gloster, at an inaugural price starting at Rs 28.98 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. It will be available in four variants in India — Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. They offer multiple combinations such as bucket seats for six-seater variants, front wheel drive and 4WD drivetrain options along with two engine choices including a twin-turbo diesel and a single turbo diesel. The engine is a 1996cc motor paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The single single turbo version makes 161bhp and 375Nm of torque while the twin-turbo version makes 215bhp and 480Nm of torque. The latter also gets a 4WD system with multiple terrain modes.
The range topping Savvy trim, priced at Rs 35.38 lakh, offers level one autonomy enabled by Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS. It includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic parking assist and adaptive cruise control, alongside others.
MG Motor has also recently introduced a personalized car ownership program ‘My MG Shield’ with over 200 after-sales service options to choose from with purchase of the Gloster. The Gloster will come with a standard warranty of three years/100,000 kilometers, three years roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services.

The customized My MG Shield aftersales packages will further provide more alternatives to customers and ensure a complete peace of mind. All of these features are in line with our philosophy of doing more than our customers’ expectations.”
Gloster’s Sharp and Savvy trims provide an all-terrain system that provides enhanced control during off-roading. There’s a dedicated rear differential, BorgWarner transfer case and a state-of-the-art electronic shift-on-the-fly technology. Both come with seven different driving modes, namely Snow, Mud, Sand, Eco, Sport, Normal and Rock.
The MG Gloster’s i-Smart 2.0 comes with over 70 connected car features for Smart, Savvy, and Sharp variants. It also comes with 64-color ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, driver’s seat massager and 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat.
The special launch price will be applicable till October 31 or the first 2,000 bookings, whichever is earlier. Deliveries will begin from Navratri. Here’s how the MG Gloster fares against its rivals in terms of price:
