Mercedes-Benz India has announced that production at the brand’s manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune will resume today onwards. The brand’s leadership in India is closely monitoring the situation and production will resume in a gradual manner.
Production at the plant has begun with only the essential staff, who are all adhering to all the required social distancing protocols and mandated safety and sanitization measures. Mercedes-Benz employees whose work deliverables do not require them to be present at work will continue working from home. Moreover, select Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the country too have restarted operations as per guidelines of local authorities. The dealerships are maintaining a sanitized environment while interacting with customers, visitors and suppliers.
For ease of business and convenience of potential customers, the German brand announced the Merc From Home initiative a few weeks ago where customers can complete the entire car buying process from home, with the car being delivered at their doorstep. Mercedes-Benz India and Mercedes-Benz AG have been in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic since the beginning of the outbreak, by manufacturing ventilators and supplying PPEs to healthcare workers.
