Maruti Suzuki has added another feather in its cap. Since the introduction of the AGS way back in 2014, Maruti Suzuki has sold more than 3 lakh cars till date, with the AMT ‘box. The Celerio AGS accounts for 43 per cent of cumulative sales compared to its manual counterparts, while the AMT versions of Dzire and Ignis account for 17 and 28 per cent of the sales. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT was also launched last month, which is its seventh model to be equipped with the AMT option. Other cars in its line-up that have AMT options include Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Ignis and Dzire. The company aims to sell another 2 lakh of its AMT models by the end of FY2018-19.
Discussing the agenda, R S Kalsi, senior executive director (marketing and sales) of Maruti Suzuki said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we believe in providing our customers with the best of technology and convenience. The revolutionary Auto Gear Shift technology is one such innovation that offers comfort and ease of driving to the customers with no compromise on fuel efficiency. It has achieved wide acceptance among customers. Crossing 3-lakh retail sales mark within five years of its introduction is a reflection of the success and consent of the customers for the two-pedal technology. With enhanced awareness and deeper penetration, we aim to sell over 200,000 cars with AGS in 2018-19.”
