Maruti Suzuki is recalling the WagonR and Baleno over a faulty fuel pump. The recall will cover WagonRs manufactured between November 15th 2018 and October 15th 2019 and Balenos (Petrol) manufactured between January 8th 2019 and November 4th 2019 which consolidates to 1.34 lakh units. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost for all the customers.
Owners of the suspected vehicles under this recall campaign will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki authorised dealers in due course of time. Owners of the suspected vehicles can also visit the website and fill in their vehicles chassis number (MA3 or MBH, followed by 14 digits alpha-numeric number) to check if their vehicle needs any attention and simply follow the instructions.
The rebadged Toyota Glanza will also be subjected to the recall and Toyota is expected to issue the same in the nearest future we believe.
This is not the first time for Maruti Suzuki to issue a recall. Back in 2010, the A-Star was recalled for a similar problem related to the fuel pump gasket and in 2019, 40,618 units of WagonR (1-litre) had a potential issue of fuel hose fouling with a metal clamp. Maruti Suzuki has is also expected to inspect 63,493 units of petrol Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 for a possible issue with the Motor Generator Unit (MGU).
