Mahindra has announced that it will be launching its luxury SUV, codenamed Y400 on November 19. The SUV is likely to be called as XUV700 and it will be the company’s flagship model. The Mahindra XUV700 is based on the SsangYong Rexton and it will be built at Mahindra’s facility in Chakan. Mahindra had acquired SsangYong Motor Company back in 2011 and the Rexton was launched in October 2012 from the collaboration.
The luxury SUV, as the company calls it, will be sold via Mahindra’s existing ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships and will sport a Mahindra badge on its nose. These dealerships also aim to enhance customer experience and improve its sales and after-sales service of the SUV.
Commenting about the Y400 SUV, Rajan Wadhera, president – automotive sector, M&M Ltd. said, “The Y400is one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of this year. Positioned in the high-end SUV segment, the Y400 is a high-end, full sized SUV that offers luxury and exclusivity in its tasteful design, lavish interiors, thrilling performance and best in class features. We are sure that it will further enhance our SUV portfolio.”
The XUV700 will rival the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour SUVs, which start from Rs 26.20 lakh and Rs 26.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Mahindra has not yet released technical details of the SUV as of now. Stay tuned for more updates.
