Jeep has issued a voluntary safety recall of 1,200 units of the Compass SUV. The company’s statement explained that loose fasteners may have found their way into the front passenger airbag modules of these affected units and could pose a hazard if the car met with an accident and these airbags deployed. FCA has recalled the batch of Compasses that have these faulty units which will be replaced under warranty.

The issue was brought to Fiat-Chrysler Automobile’s notice by a supplier. However, FCA has said that there are no reports of any accidents involving any of these affected cars.  Nonetheless, FCA has advised owners of these affected vehicles to keep the front passenger airbag disabled until the issue is resolved. In the coming week, FCA will contact owners of the affected vehicles directly and carry out the replacement free of cost.
