Jaguar is celebrating 70 years of its sports cars since the XK 120 was revealed in 1948. To make the occasion even more special, it has revealed a special edition of the F-Type coupe called ‘Chequered Flag’. The special edition coupe is based on the F-Type R- Dynamic coupe.
Changes on the special edition car include a blacked out roof, Chequered Flag branding on the outside and red colour brake calipers. The Chequered Flag badging is also present on the headrests, steering wheel, treadplates and on the centre console. The interiors are done with Windsor Leather and the car is equipped with a 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system along with a Meridian audio system. For the first time, the F-Type gets Apple Car Play and Android Auto for mobile connectivity. As an option, you also get heated/cooled seats.
The Chequered Flag special edition coupe is available in two engine options – a 2-litre 4-cylinder inline Ingenium petrol engine or a more powerful supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine. Transmission is via an 8-speed ‘Quickshift’ transmission to the rear wheels or all the four wheels via Jaguar’s all-wheel drive system (in the 375bhp V6 version). While the 2-litre Ingenium petrol powerplant cranks out 295.9bhp and 400Nm, the supercharged V6 is tuned to two different power outputs – 335bhp/450Nm and 375bhp/460Nm. The car is on sale in the UK currently.
On revealing the special edition of the F-Type, Ian Callum, director of design, Jaguar said, “Perfect proportions, design purity and visual drama – every Jaguar must express these qualities, and none more so than F-TYPE. In creating the Chequered Flag we’ve focused on details which enhance F-TYPE’s presence and promise of performance – and in doing so, made a fitting celebration of 70 years of beautiful, fast, Jaguar sports cars.”
