Jaguar launches special edition XJ50 at Rs 1.11 crore

Jaguar has launched a special edition of the XJ luxury saloon christened XJ50, to celebrate 50 years of the XJ model. The XJ50 was first showcased at the Beijing Motor Show 2018.

Priced at Rs 1.11 crore, the XJ50 is Rs 92,000 dearer than the XJ Portfolio trim. Highlights of the special edition XJ50 include autobiography style front and rear bumpers, 19-inch wheels, chrome radiator grille with chrome surround and XJ50 badging on the rear and side vents. On the inside, you get anodized gear shift paddles, quilted  seats and illuminated tread plates. Mechanically it remains unchanged.

The XJ50 is available in a long wheelbase variant with a 3-litre V6 turbocharged diesel engine which develops 302bhp at 4000rpm and 689Nm at 1800rpm. The engine is matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission, same as the Portfolio and the Premium Luxury variants.  The luxury saloon accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250kmph.

On the launch of the special edition XJ50, Rohit Suri, president and managing director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL) said, “The Jaguar XJ has always been the epitome of Jaguar’s focus on luxury and excellence. With the XJ50, we have raised the bar once again, paying homage to one of the world’s most stylish sporting saloons.”

The XJ50 is available in three colour options – Fuji White, Santorini Black, Loire Blue and Rosello Red. The Jaguar XJ goes competes with the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series, which start at Rs 1.29 crore and Rs 1.20 crore respectively.
