Jaguar has plonked the Ingenium 4-cylinder petrol engine into the entry level F-Type. The convertible variant of the sports car also gets the same engine and it sits in the middle of the F-Type line-up. With the addition of the convertible option, there are five variants in the MY2019 F-Type line-up, with the top-of-the-line 5-litre V8 AWD Coupe costing Rs 2.65 crore. All prices are ex-showroom, India. Jaguar says that the introduction of the Ingenium petrol has resulted in a 52kg weight reduction overall. The chassis is also tweaked a bit to suit the new engine’s character for better all-round performance, claims Jaguar. The 1997cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged Ingenium petrol engine puts out 296bhp and 400Nm and it comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. Naught to 100kmph takes a time of 5.7 seconds, while the top speed is 250kmph. There are no other changes made to the car apart from the introduction of the Ingenium petrol engine.

On the introduction of the Ingenium petrol engine in the F-Type, Rohit Suri, president and MD of Jaguar Land Rover India, said, “We are very excited about the introduction of the 2.0 l engine on the F-Type. This will make our sports car brand more accessible to Jaguar fans and customers across the spectrum. Enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled by the appeal of this pure breed F-Type with its own unique driving character.”
