Hyundai Motor India has announced that the Sriperambudur based manufacturing plant is ‘Future Ready’. This claim is in the sense that it meets the safety and emission norms well in advance before its mandatory implementation in 2019. The plant has adopted ‘Futuristic Technologies’ which will be used for the production of their premium vehicles. In its 19 years and 9 months of running, the Hyundai manufacturing plant has rolled out eight million cars, making them the fastest Indian Automobile manufacturer to achieve this milestone. The Electric SUV, Kona is set for launch in India by 2019, while the AH2 which is the all-new Santro will be launched well before the festive season.

The manufacturing plant has a sprawling area of 535 acres and is equipped with 590 generation four robots and, quality and testing capabilities. To be able to cater to the Indian and the Global market, they also have ‘Flexible Engine Plants’ to help produce various specifications of engines for their cars. The manufacturing plant runs on 100 percent capacity utilization and has the capacity to produce 7.13 lakh units. Using value analysis and value engineering, they are looking to increase the production capacity to 7.50 units by 2019.

“As we look forward to the journey of next 20 years, we will strengthen our commitment to the Indian market by launching eight new products between 2018 and 2020 including an Electric SUV” said Mr. Y K Koo, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.

Hyundai is also geared up for the production of Electric Vehicles (EV) in India by using their Hyundai Smart Plant. This plant captures more than a million data points to help prevent errors and produce ‘Zero Defect Vehicles’. It also has the capacity to produce five models on a single line. The Manufacturing plant is equipped to meet BS VI technology regulations along with car and pedestrian safety norms. All vehicles will be fitted with Airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard.

The plant in Chennai has been recognized by the Hyundai Motor Company and been awarded the number one overseas plant in the entire HMC group along with ‘The platinum award for Excellence 2017′ and Plant Safety Award 2017’. To ensure top notch quality standards, Hyundai monitors the supply of materials and resolves any probable vendor issues. The quality standard is acheived through various processes, such as a detailed real-time inspection system, a three-stage quality monitoring system and the use of high strenght steel for its latest models.
