Hyundai Creta Electric launched at ₹17.99 lakh
Hyundai’s popular SUV goes electric with two battery options, offering up to 473km range and a competitive feature set

Hyundai has officially launched the Creta Electric in India at ₹17.99 lakh, marking its entry into the highly competitive mid-size electric SUV market. The Creta Electric, which is based on the popular ICE-powered Creta, comes with two battery options – 51.4kWh and 42kWh and claims a maximum range of 473km. It’s available in five trims. The SUV features familiar design cues but with unique electric-specific upgrades.
Hyundai Creta Electric design
The Hyundai Creta Electric retains the styling of its ICE counterparts while incorporating electric-specific elements. The front end, inspired by the Creta N Line, features a redesigned bumper with a pixelated pattern similar to that of the Ioniq 5. Notably, the grille includes a charging socket flap, and the bumper is equipped with active aero flaps for cooling and aerodynamic efficiency. Ground clearance has been increased by 10mm, bringing it up to 200mm, and the vehicle rides on 17-inch aero rims with low rolling resistance tyres.

Hyundai Creta Electric interior and features
Inside, the Creta Electric offers a familiar layout with some notable updates. The steering wheel has been redesigned with a three-spoke unit, and the gear selector has been replaced by a stalk next to the steering, similar to what is seen in the Ioniq 5. Dual 10.25-inch screens serve as the infotainment and instrument cluster, with EV-specific graphics and functions like range readouts, charging station locators, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities. The Creta Electric even allows for payment to be done right from the screen.
Premium features include ventilated seats made of sustainable materials, a panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, a memory seat for the driver, electrically adjustable front seats, and a cooled glovebox. Rear passengers benefit from new tray tables, sunblinds, and a three-point socket. Storage space includes a 433-litre boot and a 22-litre frunk.

Hyundai Creta Electric powertrain and chassis
The Hyundai Creta Electric is available with two battery options – a 51.4kWh version producing 169bhp and a 42kWh unit delivering 133bhp. The former claims a range of 473km on the MIDC cycle while the lower one claims a maximum of 390km range. The Creta Electric offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, with the Sport mode enabling a 0-100kmph sprint in 7.9 seconds. The regenerative braking system, borrowed from the Ioniq, provides five levels of regen, including a one-pedal driving mode.
Hyundai offers the Creta Electric with an 11kW wall box charger, capable of charging from 10-100 per cent in 4 hours and 50 minutes for the bigger battery. With a 50kW DC fast charger, it can charge from 10-80 per cent in 50 minutes. Over-the-air updates later this year will enable 100kW fast charging.

Hyundai Creta Electric price and rivals
The Creta Electric starts at ₹17.99 lakh and goes up to ₹23.50 lakh. In this price range, Creta Electric will compete with rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the recently unveiled Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
