Husqvarna has launched their new product in the supermoto segment, the new FS 450. Husqvarna has made a host of design and power upgrades to the FS 450 for improved performance, including usage of lightweight materials like carbon fibre.

The motorcycle is built around a two-piece carbon subframe which is made using 70 per cent polyamide and 30 per cent carbon fibre for a lightweight yet rigid body. All these changes have led to a weight reduction of 250g for the total subframe. The company also claims that the new cylinder head has saved up to 500g of weight and is more compact than before. Overall, the bike weighs just 102kg (dry).

Powering the motorcycle is a 450cc single-cylinder engine that makes 63bhp. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox made by PANKL Racing Systems which is coupled to a SUTER anti-hopping slipper clutch, which prevents rear wheel instability while braking hard into a corner according to the company.

Suspension duties are carried out by 48mm forks up front and rear WP monoshock. The suspension travel is 280mm in the front and 266mm at the rear. The FS 450 is equipped with 16.5-inch alloys (front) and 17-inch alloys (rear)and the wheels are shod with slicks from Bridgestone. Braking duties are carried out by a 310mm disc operated by 4 piston calipers at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear, operated by a single piston caliper. Also, the bike has a high ground clearance of 290mm.

It is a purely track-focused machine for enthusiasts who are regulars for track days. The Swedish Manufacturer’s new offering will be available internationally from this month onwards at all authorised Husqvarna dealerships.
