The global unveil of the Hummer EV was scheduled for May 2020 but has gotten delayed as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. But since we are getting back to normalcy or the ‘new normal’ automakers have started unveiling their stalled projects. One such step was taken by GMC after it released a teaser video of the upcoming Hummer EV. The global unveil of the SUV and pickup truck will take place later this year with the commencement of its pre-bookings and the production of the Hummer EV is slated to begin next year.

Under the hood, the Hummer EV comes with a 200kWh motor powered by GM’s new Ultium battery pack that belts out a 986bhp and 15,592Nm of torque and claims to attain a 0-100kmph in less than three seconds. The figures on paper are as astonishing as the bonkers electric SUV is expected to be. The bold design and exceptional capabilities will change the image of EVs claimed GMC. The most notable feature in the Hummer EV will be the removable glass panel coined the “Infinity Roof” that gives you access to a sense of open-air driving whenever you feel like. It also gets drive modes like Adrenaline mode that is identical to Ludicrous mode on the Tesla’s giving 10 per cent boost to its acceleration and Crab mode that hints towards its off-roading abilities. In fact, the Hummer EV will be part of the “Quiet Revolution” campaign as advertised by GMC. Doesn’t the idea of an outlandish GMC vehicle going about its business in absolute silence excite you?

As for now, we can only expect the Hummer EV to be showcased later this year and the bookings will commence after the launch only. Post-launch the Hummer EV can go against the likes of Tesla’s Cybertruck (if it ever sees the light of day) and Rivian R1S that seem keen to own the all-electric SUV and pickup truck space.
