Tata Motors released the first official images of the Harrier SUV rolling out of the assembly line. The production version looks much like the concept, though there are some changes. The slim LED DRLs are on the top with the headlight and fog lamp units housed below the DRLs. The flared and muscular wheel arches make it look aggressive and bold.
The assembly line for the Harrier was built in just six months and Tata Motors say that it boasts of 90 per cent of automation levels with more than 100 KUKA and ABB robots. According to the company, the SUV needed a ‘completely new approach, development and manufacturing process’ and they have adopted Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing practices. The Harrier is slated for an early 2019 launch. The SUV is powered by the Fiat sourced 2-litre Kryotec engine.
On the rollout of the first Tata Harrier from the assembly lines, Mayank Pareek, president, PVBU of Tata Motors said, “We have been receiving a tremendous response from the customers ever since we opened bookings of the Harrier, a fortnight ago. With the all- new assembly line ready and the roll out of the 1st Harrier, we are now gearing up to start deliveries in early 2019. The Harrier, with its stunning design will definitely appeal to customers, especially those who have eagerly waited for the product since its showcase as the H5X concept at the Auto Expo 2018. We are confident that the Harrier will set new benchmarks in the SUV segment, in 2019.”
The Harrier is the first SUV to sport the company’s ‘Impact 2.0’ design language.
