Although the Sonet facelift follows a similar silhouette to the outgoing model, the facelift incorporates big changes in the design. The new Sonet is visually more muscular with redesigned bumpers and new LED headlamps and DRLs in the front as well as a connected full-width tail lamp at the rear. The Sonet also features LED fog lamps on all variants excluding the base HTE and HTK variants. Additionally, the Sonet gets skid plates, 16-inch alloys and a spoiler (only in GTX+ and X-Line variants). Remarkably, the new Sonet offers four different wheel design options. As for the colour options, there are eight monotone, two dual-tone and one matte colour option.

2024 Kia Sonet features

Kia claims that the new Sonet has several feature upgrades from the outgoing model including over 70 connected features, whereas the previous model had 50 connected features. The list includes a new ‘Find My Car’ feature which has a Surround View Monitor. The new Sonet also features one touch window up/down for all windows and rear door sunshades. Other features include a blind-view monitor, Hinglish VR commands, an air purifier, remote window control, and valet mode.

Kia has focused a lot on safety in the facelifted model and the Sonet now gets six airbags as standard. Additionally, it gets 10 Level-1 ADAS features and 15 additional safety features which are standard across the range.

2024 Kia Sonet powertrain

There are no changes to the powertrain in the facelifted model. Continued from before is the 1.2-litre NA petrol (82bhp/115Nm), 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (118bhp/172Nm), and the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (114bhp/250Nm). Transmission options are also similar to before but the manual transmission has been reintroduced with the diesel variants which were previously only available with a 6-speed iMT.

The 1.2-litre NA petrol can be had with the 5MT, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with either an iMT or a 7DCT and the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel is available with the 6MT, 6iMT, and the 6AT.

2024 Kia Sonet price and rivals

The outgoing model started at Rs 7.79 lakh and went up to Rs 14.89 for the X-Line diesel variant. Since the new model has added several new features, expect the price to be bumped up. The Sonet lies in one of the most competitive classes in the market with rivals like the recently updated Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and more. Bookings will open on December 20.
