2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and 1050XT UK prices revealed
Suzuki has unveiled two new V-Strom models for 2020 at EICMA 2019 in Milan, Italy. New generation V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050 were showcased and the ADV is developed to the design concept of ‘The Master of Adventure’. The V-Strom 1050 is a more street-focused version while the 1050XT is off-road oriented. Now the brand has revealed the pricing for United Kingdom. The standard model is priced at GBP 9,999, which roughly translates to Rs 9.31 lakh while the XT is priced at GBP 11,299 or Rs 10.52 lakh (both excluding Indian taxes and duties).
Refreshing design on the Suzuki V-Strom 1050
On the design front, the new V-Strom 1050 is heavily influenced by Suzuki’s iconic DR-Z desert racer and DR Big, with its new vertically stacked rectangular LED headlight and distinctive ‘beak’. The cylinder head, magneto cover, water pump case and clutch covers are all finished in bronze, contrasting with the black engine body. The 1050 sits 160mm above the ground while the 1050XT gets a marginally higher ground clearance of 165mm.
Seven per cent increase in power
The ADV complies to Euro 5 emission norms and the liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1037cc 90-degree V-twin engine now produces 105.5bhp of power; a seven per cent increase over the previous generation. The torque curve too is better than the older model and Suzuki is claiming a fuel efficiency of 20.4kmpl.
Plethora of electronic rider aids
There’s a slew of electronic rider aids in the new generation V-Strom. There’s a new ride-by-wire throttle with three selectable engine modes and a three-mode traction control system. The off-road focused V-Strom 1050XT gets new Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which features a full suite of electronics including an inertial measurement unit (IMU), lean-angle sensitive ABS with two settings, linked brakes that can detect and adapt to load and inclines, plus hill hold control and cruise control.
The ADV directly squares up against the likes of Honda Africa Twin, Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Kawasaki Versys 1000. Surprisingly, the V-Strom was the only motorcycle showcased by Suzuki at EICMA 2019 and the much-speculated next generation Hayabusa concept was not on display.
