The Volkswagen Tayron has been unveiled, and it replaces the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. It sits between the Tiguan and Touareg, in VW’s lineup. It will be available as a five-seater with optional seven seats. Available with turbo-petrol, diesel and PHEV engine options globally, but it could come to India with the 2-litre turbo petrol engine.
The Volkswagen Tayron is 4.77m in length, which makes it 271mm longer than the Tiguan and 42mm longer than the Tiguan AllSpace. It has a 108mm longer wheelbase than the Tiguan. It sits between the Tiguan and the Touareg. On the design front, it gets LED headlamps, full-width LED light bar, and illuminated logos at the front and rear. It rides on 17-inch wheels as standard, and goes upto 19-inch with higher variants. It is available as a five-seater as standard, and can be optioned with seven seats.
The Volkswagen Tayron gets a similar interior layout as the Volkswagen ID.4. The dash sports a 12.6-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The standard Tayron gets a beige upholstery, while the R-line gets black upholstery. Standard features include – Adaptive cruise control, lane-change and lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and a digital IRVM. Optional features include – Voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, panoramic sunroof, 700W Harman Kardon sound system, leather upholstery with massage and ventilation functions in the seats.
The Volkswagen Tayron features three engine options with different states of tune globally. There’s a 1.5-litre TSI, 2-litre TSI, 2-litre TDI and PHEV engine options. The base variants are available with FWD, and the 2-litre TSI engine option that could come to India, will be available as a 4Motion AWD. Two-valve adaptive dampers are available as standard on all variants.
The Volkswagen Tayron could most likely come to India in 2025, and will rival the Skoda Kodiaq priced at ₹40 lakh, the Jeep Meridian priced at ₹31.23 lakh, and the Nissan X-Trail priced at ₹49.95 lakh.
