Tata Motors has launched the Curvv EV in India, with introductory prices starting from ₹17.49 lakh, going all the way up to ₹21.99 lakh. The Curvv has been in the works for a while – it is an SUV that competes in the mid-size SUV segment with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the likes. An ICE version is on the cards, but Tata Motors is kicking things of with the BEV first.
Tata Curvv features Tata Motors’ Impact 3.0 design language and sits in line with the styling of the current range of SUVs like the Harrier, Safari and Nexon. It gets a closed-off front grille with LED headlamps and DRLs, with a light bar that gets the welcome and goodbye animation. From the sides the highlights include the sloping roofline, flush door handles and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. At the rear, it features a full-width LED tail lamp with an illuminated Tata logo. The rear bumper gets a black finish with the infusion of silver skid plate, making it look rugged. The ground clearance of the Tata Curvv is 190mm, and a water wading depth of 450mm.
Tata Curvv's interior resembles the Nexon EV’s. It features a 12.3-inch infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. Below the infotainment unit, you get trapezoidal AC vents and a touch-based climate control panel. The steering wheel is reminiscent of what we saw in the new Safari, which has a four-spoke design with an illuminated Tata logo.
In terms of features, it comes kitted with a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS with 20 features, a 360-degree camera with front parking sensors, V2L, an electronic parking brake, and six airbags as standard. It also comes with 6-way adjustable driver seats, ventilated front seats, rear seat recline, sound system by JBL and ambient lighting.
Tata Curvv EV comes with two battery options: a smaller 45kWh one with a claimed range of 502km and a bigger 55kWh battery pack that has a claimed MIDC range of 585km. There is a 165bhp motor driving the front wheels, making the car accelerate from 0-100kmph in a claimed 8.6 seconds. The top speed is capped at 160kmph. In terms of charging, the car can be juiced from 10-80 per cent in 40 minutes with a 70kW DC fast charger.
The Tata Curvv EV introductory prices start from ₹ 17.49 lakh for the Creative version with a 45kWh battery pack and go up to ₹ 21.99 lakh for the top-end Empowered+A version with a 55kWh battery. Detailed variant-wise pricing is as follows:

Despite sitting in the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment, the only real EV competition it has is the MG ZS EV (₹18.98 lakh to ₹25.44 lakh) and it has some overlap with EVs that sit a segment below like the XUV400 (₹15.49 lakh to ₹17.69 lakh) and Nexon EV (₹14.49 lakh to ₹19.29 lakh).
