Tata Motors has launched the Altroz Racer with prices starting from Rs 9.49 lakhs. The Altroz Racer essentially features the same Altroz platform with a slightly more powerful engine, more features and more focus on a sporty driving experience. The Altroz Racer replaces the i-turbo in the Altroz range, and will be the only Altroz to feature a turbo-petrol engine.
The Altroz Racer features the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine found in the i-Turbo. However, this engine is tuned to the same power outputs as the Nexon, delivering 118bhp of peak power and 170Nm of torque – which is 8bhp and 30Nm more than before. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox option only.
The Tata Altroz Racer edition retains the classic silhouette of the Altroz but adds a touch of sportiness with its unique graphics. The standout features include an all-black roof and bonnet adorned with white racing stripes, the distinctive Racer badging on the front fender, and diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels. The car is available in three paint options: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey.
On the inside, it gets a Granite Black upholstery with red contrast stitching. It also has orange and white stripes and Racer embossing on the head restraints. More orange inserts around the centre console and the AC vents, along with the glossy dash layout.
When it comes to features, the Racer edition leaves no stone unturned. It is equipped with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster. It introduces segment-first ventilated front seats, ensuring a comfortable and cool ride. Other notable features include a heads-up display, a voice-activated sunroof, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, an air purifier, and wireless charging, making it a tech-savvy companion on the road.
The Altroz Racer gets a total of three variants – R1, R2 and R3. The R1 starts at Rs 9.49 lakh, the R2 costs Rs 10.49 lakh and R3 costs Rs 10.99 lakh. The Altroz Racer rivals other turbo petrol hatchbacks like the i20 N Line, Citroen C3 and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
