The upcoming Swift is finally off the wraps! Suzuki has unveiled the facelifted Swift in Japan, which is bound to come to India in 2024. Featuring minor exterior and interior design changes, the 2024 Swift gets a new Z12E engine and ADAS features on the safety front.
The front and rear of the facelifted Swift have been redesigned. The bonnet is curvier, and the grille has been redesigned, while the chrome bar has been removed. The logo is now also moved over the grille. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned. The Swift also gets new 16-inch alloy wheels, and the rear door handles have been relocated from the C-pillar to their traditional position on the door. The tail lights also feature a new design.
Stepping inside, the 2024 Suzuki Swift's dashboard has been completely redesigned. The interior of the Swift in Japan is two-tone black and white. The steering wheel is the same unit that does its duties on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The HVAC panel has been redesigned, with a touch panel replacing the rotary dials found on the previous model. The Swift also receives a new 9-inch infotainment system (the current model has a 7-inch unit), which is now mounted on top of the dashboard.
The new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine codenamed the Z12E powers the Suzuki Swift 2024. This engine produces 81bhp at 5700 rpm and 108Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. This engine is available with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The CVT also has paddle shifters.
For comparison, the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-series DualJet engine that powers the Maruti Swift in India generates 89bhp and 113Nm.
In terms of features, the 2024 Suzuki Swift gets an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function. It also has heated driver and front passenger seats, as well as automatic climate control. Push-button start-stop and electrically retractable ORVMs are now standard on the Swift. The 2024 Swift gains new ADAS features such as a driver monitoring system, lane keep assist and collision alert.
While the upcoming Swift looks promising on paper, it will now be interesting to see how much of this Japan-spec model makes its way to India.
