Mini has introduced five new Mini John Cooper Works models – which include two electric models and three petrol models. The two electric models are called the Mini JCW Electric and the Mini JCW Aceman, while the petrol variants include the Mini JCW, the JCW Convertible and the JCW Countryman ALL4.
The JCW versions of the Mini Cooper electric produce 255bhp of power and 350Nm of torque, with an additional 27bhp of power available via an electric boost function. The Aceman is the 5-door version while the JCW Electric is the 3-door, and both get JCW-specific suspension and high performance tyres as standard. The JCW Electric gets 371km of range, while the five-door JCW Aceman gets 355km of driving range on a single charge.
Exclusive equipment also includes the red-white-black JCW logo in the style of a chequered flag, and JCW-specific multitone roof with a red-black colour gradient. Additional equipment includes black side skirts and model specific aeroblades on the C-pillar, along with a rear spoiler.
Powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the JCW and the JCW Convertible produce 228bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a DCT, and the JCW takes 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph, while the JCW Convertible takes 6.4 seconds. Top speed for the JCW is 250kmph, with that for the Convertible being 245kmph.
In terms of the design, the large octagonal high-gloss black front grille gets wide air vents for efficient engine cooling and the modern JCW logo dominates the front view of both the JCW models. You get red-coloured inserts in the side air inlets on the front apron and the tailpipes are positioned in the centre of the black rear diffuser.
The JCW Countryman ALL4 gets all-wheel-drive as the name suggests, and its engine produces 296bhp of power with 400Nm of torque. Top speed is 250kmph. The JCW Countryman ALL4 also gets aerodynamic elements with red reflectors to emphasise the wide stance, along with vertical taillights with the JCW Signature Mode frame the upright body. For the first time, the MINI Countryman offers partially automated Level 2 driving on highway-like routes
The interior of the JCW models also gets a JCW sports steering wheel with red decorative stitching and the six o’clock spoke made of black and red fabric. The JCW models also get a standard Harman Kardon sound system. You also get a JCW-specific go-kart mode, where the steering is set to a more direct setting and the accelerator pedal responds faster. The high-res OLED display also provides additional performance related data.
With five Mini JCW models to choose from, there’s now a Mini John Cooper Works model to match every taste, thanks to the choice of an electric powertrain, multiple body styles and the safety net of all-wheel-drive on certain models.
