The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV has been launched in India at ₹1.41 crore. Sticking to Mercedes-Benz India’s strategy, it is the sixth BEV available in India after the EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, EQS and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680. It is also the second 7-seater EV after the EQB.

The EQS SUV gets three rows, 122kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup that makes similar power as the EQE SUV. The EQS SUV’s wheelbase is 170mm longer to accommodate for the extra row. It sports the same cabin as the EQE, but gets an additional few features and creature comforts.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV gets similar styling as the EQE SUV. However, the wheelbase has grown from 3030mm in the EQE SUV to 3200mm in the EQS SUV, to accommodate for the third row. It gets a similar front and rear fascia with the full-width LED DRLS flanked by the headlamps, and the rear gets a full-width LED light bar. It gets the AMG line package as standard with the 21-inch AMG design wheels and sportier bumpers. Air suspension is available as standard with a 25mm suspension lift.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV sports a similar interior as the EQE SUV and the EQS sedan. There’s a 56-inch MBUX hyperscreen – 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display. Features include a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, five drive modes with off-road mode, essence package with fragrance, paddle shifters with four levels of regeneration, heads-up-display, five-zone climate control, soft-close doors, ADAS level 2 and 9 airbags. The second-row passengers get dual 11.6-inch entertainment screens, a 7.4-inch tablet to control car functions, and a wireless charger in the center armrest. The third-row passengers get type-c charging ports and AC vents. Boot capacity is 880 litres with the third row folded down.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV gets a dual-motor setup that pushes out 536bhp and 858Nm. 0 to 100kmph comes up in 4.7 seconds. It gets a 122kWh battery (the biggest battery on sale in India) with an ARAI claimed range of 809km and can support up to 200kW DC fast charging.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV is priced at ₹1.41 crore. There aren’t any other 7 seater EV SUVs on sale in the market currently apart from the EQB and the BYD e6. Although, in the premium EV SUV segment, it rivals the BMW iX priced at ₹1.39 crore, and the Audi Q8 e-tron priced at ₹1.2 crore.

The EQS SUV is only ₹1.75 lakh more expensive than the EQE SUV, because the latter is a CBU and the former is a CKD. India is the second country after the USA to locally produce the EQS SUV.
