Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV has been a long time coming! Ever since the second-generation Thar launched in India, it has been a blockbuster success, so much so that the waiting period was up to around 16 to 20 months. However, since then, consumers have been demanding and expecting a 5-door version of Thar, and on August 15, the anticipation of all the enthusiasts will be put to a pause. Here's everything we know so far about the Thar Roxx.
The stance certainly looks imposing and will grab a lot of attention. As compared to the ongoing 3-door Thar, the front fascia is completely redone with a double-stacked six-slot grille and circular projector LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs. The bumper has also been redesigned with a circular fog lamp beside it. On the side, the longer proportions are strikingly visible; however, the exact dimensions are not yet out. It features a new design for the diamond-cut alloy wheels and a new design for tail lamps. The Thar Roxx will be available only in a 5-seat configuration, thus liberating ample boot space.
The top-spec version of Thar Roxx will come equipped with the panoramic sunroof, ADAS system borrowed from XUV700 and even beige leatherette upholstery that we have seen in XUV3X0. It will feature a 10.25-inch infotainment unit, 360-degree camera and a Harman Kardon sound system.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to launch with three engine options, two diesel and one petrol version. There will be a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine which will send power only to the rear wheels and a bigger and a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel mill with four-wheel-drive. Then there will also be the option of a 2.-litre turbo-petrol unit. The engine might be tuned up to account for the more weight of the 5-door Thar Roxx.
The car will be officially launched on August 15, wherein all the details shall be revealed. The bookings are yet to begin, and it is expected to commence on the launch day itself.
