In an effort to boost EV adoption, JSW MG Motor India has launched four individual initiatives at the DriEV.Bharat event held in New Delhi on August 6. By partnering with several key stakeholders in the EV ecosystem, the brand aims to create a seamless EV ownership experience while also focusing on improving long-term sustainability. The event featured the launch of eHUB by MG, Project REVIVE, EVPEDIA, and the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform.
JSW MG Motor has partnered with several leading players in the EV charging segment to create a new mobile application named eHUB by MG. The app is pitched as a one-stop solution for public EV charging, which is said to eliminate the need to use a different app for each charging provider. With access to a vast charging network through partnerships with leading providers such as Adani Total Energies Limited (ATEL), BPCL, Chargezone, Glida, HPCL, Jio-BP, Shell, Statiq, Zeon, and many more, the app aims to streamline the process of locating, reserving, and paying for charging. The app is available in 11 languages, features a trip planner, and is now available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
With Project REVIVE, JSW MG Motor is investing in repurposing used EV batteries into renewable energy storage systems for developing communities. Under the initiative, healthy battery components from EVs are recycled into storage systems that can then be used to power schools and community centres during power outages. In partnership with TERI, Lohum, and BatX, a pilot project was launched at the Mukteshwar school in Dehradun.
The brand also launched a new platform named EVPEDIA aimed at spreading awareness about electric vehicles. In addition to educating the public on EVs, the platform features tools like cost of ownership calculators, a repository of government policies, and a collection of publications and research papers. Users can also interact with an AI-powered chatbot named ‘Vir’ for quick answers to their EV-related questions.
JSW MG Motor has also partnered with Jio to create the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform that will feature in all upcoming MG vehicles. The platform introduces the MG Store that allows for in-car gaming, entertainment, and learning, in addition to featuring voice commands in six languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, and Telugu. The platform also adds Home to Car connectivity via the Jio Fiber set-top box.
Additionally, the brand is on track to install one thousand community chargers throughout the country. JSW MG Motor is also preparing to launch its all-electric Windsor CUV soon, which will compete with the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400.
