A week after its unveil, Maruti Suzuki has revealed prices for the fourth-generation Dzire. This sub-compact sedan starts at ₹6.79 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), gets major cosmetic changes, more features and most importantly a five-star GNCAP safety rating. It’s now powered by a 1.2-litre normally aspirated three-cylinder engine, borrowed from the new Swift and continues to get an option of either a five-speed manual, a five-speed AMT and even CNG. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Maruti Dzire.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire styling

When it comes to styling, the new Dzire is a stark departure over its last generation. It no longer shares styling with the Swift and gets an array of bespoke touches which give it an identity of its own. Up front, it gets a pair of more aggressive LED headlights which are connected by a gloss black piece. It now has a larger grille, with six-slats, a sportier lip on the front bumper, smaller LED fog lights and sharper fog light housings. In profile, it gets new design for the 15-inch alloys (lower variants ride on 14-inch steel wheels), a sportier waistline and a revised roofline which Maruti says has improved aerodynamics by 6 per cent. At the rear, it has smaller, wrap-around, LED tail lights with a chrome element connecting the two and a cleaner bumper. Maruti is offering the new Dzire in seven colours, with three new options — Gallant Red, Alluring Blue and Nutmeg Brown.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire interior and features

When it comes to the interior of the new Dzire, there aren’t any major changes on the inside, but it now gets a longer features list. The overall layout of the dashboard remains the same, but Maruti has dressed it with four colours and a faux wooden trim piece to make it look more premium. Taking centre stage inside is a 9-inch touchscreen which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — a segment first. Other segment first features include an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The driver gets a new analogue cluster with two pods and a small screen at the centre, borrowed from the Swift. At the back, there’s a Type-A and Type-C charging port above the new air-con vents. On the safety front, apart from the impressive five-star GNCAP safety rating, the new Dzire also boasts six airbags, ABS, ESP, three-point seatbelts for all five seats, ISOFIX mounts at the rear and hill-hold as standard.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire engine and gearbox

Powering the fourth-gen Maruti Dzire is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which also does duties on the new Swift. This mill makes 80.5 bhp at 5700rpm and 111.7Nm of peak torque at 4300rpm. While those figures are slightly lower in comparison to the outgoing four-cylinder engine, this new mill has been tuned to produce more power and torque down low to make it more tractable in the city. This engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. And just like before, Maruti is also offering the option of CNG on the Dzire, but only in manual avatar. In CNG mode the engine churns out 69bhp at 5700rpm and 101.8Nm at 2900rpm. The CNG tank has a water equivalent capacity of 55-litres and increases the kerb weight of the car from 1375 to 1435kg. When it comes to fuel efficiency, Maruti claims that the Dzire will return 24.79kmpl in manual guise, 25.71kmpl if you choose the AMT and 33.75km/kg on CNG.
