Datsun launches CVT variant in of the Go and Go+

Datsun has launched CVT variants of its Gohatchback and Go+ compact MPV

Datsun has launched the CVT (continuously variable transmission) variant of its Go hatchback and Go+ compact MPV, priced at Rs 5.94 lakh for the Go and Rs 6.58 lakh for the Go+ for the base T variant of both. Now, though the competitors to the Datsun Go (the Maruti S-Presso and Renault Kwid) already have the option for an automatic transmission, the Renault Triber, which is the only competitor for the Go+ doesn’t, making the Datsun’s claim of the CVT a ‘first in class’ feature true.

Under the hood, both the Go and the Go+ share the same 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, and the inclusion of the CVT sees them mirroring the combination first seen on sister brand Nissan’s Micra about six years ago. The engine produces 77bhp, a significant leap from the 67bhp seen on the manual iteration, with the CVT promising a jerk-free driving experience.

From the outside, both the Go and Go+ remain relatively unchanged, except for the ‘CVT’ badge at the rear, and the inclusion of the diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED DRLs. Within the cabin, too, features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, and rear parking sensors continue to be offered.

A variant wise prices are as follows

Datsun Go
T CVT – Rs 5,94,464
T (O) CVT – Rs 6,18,015

Datsun Go+
T CVT – Rs 6,58,361
T (O) CVT – Rs 6,80,153
