BYD Sealion 7 showcased at Auto Expo 2025, India launch in March

Chinese giant BYD Auto, which is the world's largest electric car maker, has showcased its fourth product for the Indian market—the Sealion 7 electric SUV—at the Auto Expo 2025. The BYD Sealion 7 is available in two variants and offers over 500bhp and 500km of range. Let's take a deep dive into this SUV

BYD Sealion 7 styling

There's no mistaking the Sealion 7 to be anything else but a BYD because it gets the brand’s distinct ‘Ocean X’ styling philosophy. It gets slim wraparound LED headlights and connected tail lights, flush sitdoor handles and a floating c-pillar. It has a sloping roofline, aggressive bumpers and a roof plus a lip spoiler.

At 4.8m in length, the Seal is a big car and boasts a 2930mm wheelbase. The SUV will be offered in four colour options: Cosmos Black, Atlantis grey, Aurora White and Shark grey.

BYD Sealion 7 interior and features

On the inside, the Sealion 7 gets a 15.9-inch rotatable infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its other features include heated and ventilated front seats a crystal drive selector, wireless charging, a panoramic glass roof, an electric tailgate and vehicle to load power transmission capability.

On the safety front, it gets 11 airbags, ADAS with adaptive cruise control and forward collision avoidance and a driver fatigue monitoring system.

BYD Sealion 7 battery, range and performance

TheSealion 7 is based on BYD's latest e-platform 3.0 architecture. Both variants of the Sealion 7 are powered by the brand's 82.56kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery. On the lower Premium variant it offers an NEDC-claimed 567km range and is coupled to a single motor on the rear axle which makes 308bhp, 380Nm and enables a 0-100kmph time of 6.7 seconds. On the performance variany, the battery pack claims to deliver 542km range, and power a dual-motor setup, which boasts a combined output of 523bhp and 690Nm. This setup helps the Sealion 7 to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 4.5 seconds. The car tops out at 215kmph.

BYD Sealion 7 expected price and delivery date

The Sealion 7 is expected to be priced around the ₹60 lakh mark. BYD has opened promotional bookings for it from today. The ₹70,000 promotional booking offer includes a 7 year / 1.5 lakh km warranty, a free 7kW home charger and installation. It is open till February 17, 2025.
