2025 Audi A6 sedan globally unveiled
The new Audi A6 gets an updated design, new engines and more kit

Audi has globally unveiled the 2025 Audi A6
After revealing the A6 Avant globally, Audi has gone on to unveil the latest iteration of the Audi A6 sedan. Like the new Q5 and A5 models, the luxury sedan is based on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, and the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class rival gets revised styling with better aerodynamics, petrol and diesel engines with mild-hybrid technology, more sophisticated suspension, plus a lot more kit.

The latest Audi A6 is more of an evolution of the earlier design than a revolution
2025 Audi A6 design
Like most new Audis, the latest Audi A6 is more of an evolution of the earlier design than a revolution, but that is no bad thing. The front of the sedan is characterised by the Singleframe grille and sleek headlights, both of which give the Audi a sleeker and sportier look. You also get air curtains positioned under the headlights. Optional equipment on the A6 includes digital LED DRLs made up of 48 individual LED segments per headlights, while the Matrix LED headlights are also available as an option. The second-gen digital OLED tail lamps are also available as an option, and the two rear lights are connected with a continuous light strip, something we have already seen on larger Audis like the A8.

The A6 sedan is globally offered with alloy wheels ranging from 18-inches to 21-inches
The A6 sedan is globally offered with alloy wheels ranging from 18-inches to 21-inches, with 19-inch wheels being standard with the S Line exterior pack. You also get the option of forged 21-inch wheels. The S line exterior pack emphasises on the sportiness of the sedan, and it includes elements such as the area under the front air intakes, the wider sill trims and the trim piece around the diffuser finished in matte anthracite chrome. The Singleframe grille also has a larger structure and is finished in black. There is also a black exterior package which can be added to the S Line exterior pack as an option. Here the Audi rings at the front and rear are finished in anthracite grey, while the grille, diffuser trim piece, side sill trim, door handles, window trim, mirror housings and roof rails are finished in black. The new A6 also gets the lowest drag coefficient of any series-produced Audi with a combustion engine, with a Cd value of just 0.23.

The interiors of the A6 follow Audi’s new cabin design language

With an overall length of 4.99-metres, the A6 sedan is 60mm longer than the previous model and it gets a wheelbase of 2927mm – which should translate to an ample amount of interior space for the passengers. You get a panoramic glass roof, and the interiors of the A6 follow Audi’s new cabin design language where the dashboard is dominated by the Audi MMI panoramic display and the optional MMI passenger display. The MMI panoramic display has a curved design with OLED tech, and it consists of an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit as well as a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen infotainment. The optional front passenger display is a 10.9-inch unit which is perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. The A6 can also be optionally equipped with a configurable HUD (head-up display).
You also get contoured lighting along the dashboard and in the doors, and the Audi A6 is loaded with equipment, such as a premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen. The top-spec version of the system is equipped with two additional speakers in each of the front headrests, while 3D sound is produced by a total of 16 or 20 speakers, including an amplifier and a subwoofer with 685 or 810 watts respectively. The headrest speakers create a personal surround sound and also enable precise audio output, with navigation prompts and phone calls being directed specifically to the driver. Also present on the A6 is four-zone automatic climate control, while a soft-closing function for the doors is available as an option.
The A6 uses the Android Automotive OS for its infotainment system which supports OTA (over-the-air) updates and numerous third-party apps like Spotify and YouTube, which are directly integrated into the MMI of the sedan – which means a smartphone is not required to download or use the interface. You also get wireless charging and the Audi A6 can also connect to ChatGPT, allowing customers to AI-based knowledge using speech prompts. The A6 is also equipped with multiple driver assistance systems as standard, which include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, a rear-view camera and park assist plus. Other features include lane departure warning, cross-traffic assist, swerve assist, front turn assist and the emergency brake assistant.
Audi A6 suspension
The new Audi A6 comes with a choice between three suspension setups. First up is the standard suspension, which is claimed to be even more comfortable than the outgoing model. Next up is the sports suspension, which lowers the body by 20mm for sportier handling. This suspension is standard with the S Line exterior package. And finally, you get the optional adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled damping, giving the A6 a smooth and comfortable ride, along with sporty handling. And thanks to the Audi assistant, the adaptive air suspension can now be operated by voice control for the first time.
2025 Audi A6 engines
Globally, the Audi A6 will be available with a choice of three engines – two petrols and one diesel. Two of these three powertrains feature mild-hybrid technology. The mild-hybrid system consists of a 48-volt battery, a belt alternator starter, and the new powertrain generator with integrated power electronics. The lithium-ion battery has a storage capacity of 1.7kWh. The belt alternator starter’s primary function is to start the engine and supply the battery with electrical energy. The powertrain generator enables partially electric driving, provides additional torque, and feeds energy back into the battery during deceleration. The mild-hybrid system will also support the combustion engine of the A6, with the powertrain generator producing an additional torque of up to 230Nm and up to 24bhp of power. The system will also be able to regenerate up to 25kW of power when decelerating and feed it back to the battery.
Coming to the engines themselves, the Audi A6 will be offered globally with a 2-litre petrol, a 2-litre diesel and a 3-litre petrol engine. Mind you, it is the 2-litre diesel and the 3-litre petrol engines which are equipped with mild-hybrid technology. The 2-litre turbo-petrol engine runs on the Miller cycle and produces 201bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to the front wheels. The 2-litre diesel engine produces the same 201bhp of power as the petrol engine, but the torque figure is upped to 400Nm. This engine is mated to a dual-clutch transmission and can be had with front-wheel drive or Audi’s quattro AWD. The 3-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 362bhp of power and 550Nm of torque. This petrol engine also runs on the Miller cycle and can only be had with quattro AWD. This is the most powerful engine option on offer with Audi A6, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.7 seconds (claimed), with a top speed of 250kmph. As mentioned before, the mild-hybrid systems also provide a boost of up to 24bhp and 230Nm to the outputs of the 2-litre diesel and the 3-litre petrol engine.

Globally, orders for the new Audi A6 will begin in mid-April 2025
2025 Audi A6 rivals
As mentioned above, the Audi A6 will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series. Globally, orders for the new Audi A6 will begin in mid-April 2025 and it is very likely that the sedan will be coming to our shores very soon, with an India launch of the A6 being imminent.
