Petrol engines have seen an increase in demand in recent times. This fact is proven by Merc’s latest launch. The C-Class now demands a starting price of Rs 61.85 lakh. More importantly, the (previously) top-end C 300 d variant has been replaced with a C 300 variant with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and AMG Line exterior styling. The base variants of the C-Class have gotten more techier and more comfortable this year with the introduction of fast USB charging and heated/cooled seats. The variants have also gotटेन safer with features like rear side-airbags, a 360-degree camera and adaptive high beam. They also get a digital key and new colours.
The C 300 replaces the old C 300 d variant. Powering it is a 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating 254bhp and 400Nm torque with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6 seconds and a top speed of 250kmph. Design-wise it gets AMG Line exterior and Night Package interior styling elements. It features Digital Lights, Keyless-Go and Blind-spot assist along with new exterior paint options including Manufaktur Patagonia red bright.
The prices for the C 200 start at Rs 61.85 lakh while the C 220 d starts at Rs 62.85 lakh. The C 300 variant is considerably expensive, starting at Rs 69 lakh. As for the rivals, the C-Class goes against the likes of the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4. While the Audi starts at Rs 46.02 lakh, the BMW 3-Series starts at Rs 60.60 lakh.
